CIBSE Sustainability Tool
What to expect
This tool is a searchable, online database of good practice sustainability measures for building services engineers. The measures are a distillation of well-established sustainability guidance, including the strategic advice set out in CIBSE Guide L: Sustainability.
The tool provides:
- A shortlist of measures for specific sustainability topics
- References to further guidance, including the section of the relevant document.
It is structured according to a set of key principles for each sustainability topic.
In the future, we would like to provide links directly to the guidance documents. We would also like to provide case studies, benchmarks and external links to other useful information.
Getting Started
To get started there are two ways to search: one is a keyword search and the other ‘browse issues’ structures the information by sustainability topic. Throughout the site both search options are available permanently in the top navigation bar above.
What we are planning to do next
This tool is the first step towards providing more of CIBSE’s resources on-line.
We would appreciate your feedback on this resource. Please email sustainability@cibse.org with comments and suggestions.
CIBSE Guide L: Sustainability
This tool is a companion to CIBSE Guide L: Sustainability. The Guide emphasises the importance of early engineering involvement in projects and the opportunities for building services engineers to promote sustainability as a key member of the project team. It also includes summaries of sustainable engineering techniques and technologies. It is available from www.cibse.org.
